The AfWASA Programs Department is responsible for :
- Supporting the identification of members' needs in terms of gaps in mastery of good managerial, technical and commercial practices, and in staff training to provide an efficient water and sanitation service.
- Structure members' capacity-building needs in the form of peer learning projects/programmes, or in the form of training.
- Develop projects and identify technical and financial partners with whom to implement approved and funded projects,
- Train project implementation teams and ensure the monitoring-evaluation and capitalisation of good practice;
- Identifying relevant themes for knowledge-sharing events such as conferences, CSTs, seminars and symposia,
- Coordinating and ensuring the strategic, scientific and technical monitoring of the AfWASA 's activities and the development of its partnerships.
In short, the Programs Department is the operational pillar of the AfWASA to support members in their quest to improve the performance of their water and sanitation services.
It is structured into three programs and a cross-cutting unit:
- The Water for All program in Africa,
- The Sanitation for All program in Africa
- The water and sanitation research and training program
- The knowledge-sharing unit.
